			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Macleod review into employee engagement was published recently. The authors had been asked by the Department of Business to investigate whether wider take up of engagement approaches could impact positively on UK competitiveness and performance, and meet the challenges of increased global competition. The answer was a clear yes.<span id="more-588"></span></p>
<p>Governments need reports in order to justify policies. But in reality this one was a no brainer. Anyone who knows anything about business, or about people, could have told them that the more that staff are engaged with, commit to, and believe in a company, the more effort they will put in and the more successful the company will be.</p>
<p>At Career Energy we have long recognised the importance of employee engagement. Six months ago, in this blog, we outlined how coaching can improve engagement and called upon companies to offer one to one support to staff at all levels, not just executives. Since then we have introduced our highly successful Career Energisers, time-efficient, concentrated, cost-effective interventions designed to address the motivational and loyalty issues faced by organisations.</p>
<p>Employee engagement is likely to be one of the buzz words of the next decade. It is part of a social trend in which we are all starting to see our careers as an integrated part of our lives; demanding greater satisfaction from those careers and in turn being prepared, and expected, to commit to them to a much greater extent.</p>
<p>Successful companies over the next decade will be those which engage with their employees, and encourage their employees to engage with them. It may be a no-brainer, but it won&#8217;t happen by itself.
