Keep On Keeping On

We have had the dire media predictions, the dramatic bank collapses, stimulus packages, interest rate slashes, company failures, job losses, bankruptcies  and now the recession has become an established part of our lives. We are living with it. It no longer makes the front pages every day but for many people life is grim, with no sign of work on the horizon. For many others life is about to get that way, unemployment will reach three million no doubt before things start to improve. There are no new solutions. But that doesn’t mean we can ignore the old ones. If you are job hunting you have to carry on, and in as positive a way as you can.

That means getting out there and proactively searching for opportunities. Getting your name out there and being visible. Networking for all you are worth. You don’t need to read it all again I have said it in blogs over the past few months and hopefully you have bought your copy of the Career Energy book How To Get A Job In A Recession (if not, click here and do it now).

But the most difficult bit of course is remaining positive. You do need to focus your energies on this. Different people will have different techniques; for some it is physical exercise, for others it may be meditation techniques, still others may require professional assistance. Without positivity things can get a lot worse and you cannot allow that to happen. Whereas if you do feel positive you will be far better placed to spot opportunities and act upon them.

This may sound trite but it does matter. Too often we meet people at Career Energy who are in a state of near despair because they cannot find a job. And once despair sets in, it gets even harder to break back into employment. Seek assistance if necessary. But do your hardest not to give up. But ideally give us a call, before things get too bad.
